Role Overview
As a Play Worker, you will be responsible for delivering fun, stimulating, and safe play activities for children aged [insert age range, e.g., 4-11] as part of our wraparound care, after-school clubs, and holiday camps. You'll support the emotional, physical, and social development of children, ensuring every child feels welcomed, included, and valued.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, age-appropriate play and sporting activities that promote active participation and teamwork
Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being in line with safeguarding procedures
Build positive relationships with children, parents/carers, and colleagues
Set up and pack away play equipment and resources, ensuring the environment is clean, safe, and inviting
Follow daily plans and routines while also using initiative to adapt activities based on children's interests and needs
Support children with their individual needs, promoting positive behaviour and inclusion
Assist with administrative tasks such as attendance, incident reports, and behaviour logs where required
Uphold the values and ethos of Foundation Sports & Play and be a positive role model for children
Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
Person Specification
Essential:
Experience working with children in a play, sports, childcare, or education setting
Enthusiastic, energetic, and confident in leading group activities
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for child development and play
Ability to use initiative and remain calm under pressure
Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and complete safeguarding training
Desirable:
Relevant qualification in Playwork, Childcare, Sports Coaching, or similar
Paediatric First Aid certification
Knowledge of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) or other relevant frameworks
Experience supporting children with additional needs
