About the Role
:
We're seeking an experienced and motivated Plumber to join our new Property Services team at NY Highways. This is a varied and rewarding role involving a mix of capital projects and responsive maintenance work across a range of commercial properties.
As part of a skilled team, you'll be delivering high-quality plumbing services related to property maintenance and renovations, ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and building regulations. You'll be expected to work flexibly across the county and take part in our out-of-hours call-out rota to respond to emergency repairs.
As a Plumber you will:
Carry out general plumbing and heating tasks, including installation and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures, in accordance with work orders and specifications.
Work on a variety of tasks across different work programmes, including emergency repairs, planned maintenance, and capital projects.
Use and maintain plumbing tools, plant, and equipment in line with safety regulations, including setting up mobile towers/low-level access equipment.
Liaise with supervisors, stakeholders, and team members to complete jobs effectively and escalate any unresolved matters.
Contribute to the planning and safety documentation required for each project, including risk assessments and method statements.
Supervise and train apprentices or junior staff members, ensuring high-quality work and compliance with health and safety practices.
Ensure that all work complies with relevant legislation, building codes, and internal processes and report on progress using handheld devices.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Essential:
NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent experience)
CSCS Gold Card
Full UK Driving Licence
Experience in both plumbing and heating tasks, including installation and repairs
Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and safe working systems
Ability to work as part of a team and independently, using initiative when required
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Flexibility to work as part of an on-call rota and travel across the county
Enhanced DBS check (Children's Barred List)
Desirable (or willingness to train):
Gas Safety registered
PASMA certification
Manual Handling, Safe Dig, Abrasive Wheels, and Banksman training
Nail Gun Awareness, Face Fit, Asbestos Awareness
Working at Height certification
First Aid (Emergency) training
Experience working across different trade areas within property maintenance
