A fantastic opportunity has arisen for the Cheshire and Wirral Podiatry department to recruit multiple Podiatry Apprentices. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in developing in health care in a career that offers flexibility and independence as a clinician.
The Trust currently supports the Real Living Wage (RLW) hourly rate as set by the Living Wage Federation and will apply a pay supplement if the national A4C hourly rate falls below this.
Main duties of the job
The job will involve contact daily with patients with high risk foot health requirements. The practical training will be delivered on site with a team of qualified Podiatrists and the theoretical aspect will come directly from the University of Plymouth.
You will have the opportunity to develop skills in routine and high risk Podiatry and learn to carry out podiatric treatments independently throughout this time. Our skills include MSK biomechanical assessment and diagnosis, minor nail surgery procedures, high risk wound care and vascular assessment, as well as treatment for various nail pathologies and preventative treatment of corns and callus.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
5 GCSEs at Grade 4/C including English Language, Maths and a Science. Plus, a level 3 qualification as below:
Access to Higher Education in Science or Health Studies (Level 3) or BTEC - Science, Sports and exercise science, sports therapy and beauty therapy or health science (Level 3) or 2 x A levels to include Science or health related subject (Level 3)
Ability to work single handed with individual patients in a supported environment under supervision of qualified staff
Able to carry out basic administrative and housekeeping duties
An understanding of the role of the profession
An understanding of confidentiality
Experience of working within a care environment or with the relevant patient group
Working knowledge of stock ordering systems.
Prior experience in a healthcare setting
Desirable criteria
Successful completion or currently undertaking ECDL or equivalent
Royal College of Podiatry Assistant Qualification
An understanding of the role of the assistant
Experience of working as a therapy assistant
Experience of using EMIS web
