Preparing and installing telegraph poles. Operating auger for pole installations and responsible for transporting essential materials, tools, and equipment to various sites. Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead telecom lines. This position requires a high level of attention to safety, adherence to regulations, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Duties
Installation and removal of poles, including the dressing of new poles with safe excavation works which includes use of CAT and Genny. Operate Pole Erection Unit in line with H&S legislation. Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with Service Level Agreements.
Undertaking works in accordance with Health and Safety legislation, company and client Health and Safety standards
Key Accountability
Safely operate HGV vehicles to transport poles, tools, and other materials to and from work sites.
Operate poling augers to drill holes for pole installations, ensuring precision and safety in all operations
Utilize HIAB cranes for the safe loading and unloading of poles and other heavy materials, ensuring efficient handling on-site
Operate and manage on-site equipment such as cranes, winches, and hydraulic tools, ensuring they are used safely and efficiently.
Adhere to all safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies, ensuring that all transport and operational activities meet legal and safety requirements.
Maintain accurate records vehicle inspections, and any incidents, ensuring all paperwork is completed promptly and accurately.
Work closely with the Overhead Team to coordinate operations, providing support as needed to ensure projects are completed safely and on time.
Proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards, contributing to a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Qualifications & Experience
It is essential you are in possession of a Streetworks card (NRASWA).
Have knowledge of the poling industry or construction background.
IOSH desired
HGV Licence
SA001 Safety Overhead.
SA002 Safety Underground.
SA006 Safe Working in Civils
PIA Poling Course (O002, 03 04, 05, 06)
IPAF 1B
Familiarity with utility industry standards and regulations.
