The
Polish Healthcare Support Worker (HSW)
role is based in
Edinburgh, Scotland.
So, you must live locally to this location or be willing to travel for shifts, and you must also be able to drive
The following are the requirements that you must possess as a Healthcare Support Worker (HSW), as a minimum:
Have extensive care experience and knowledge, particularly in home care, adult care, and caring for people with disabilities in the UK.
Hold relevant qualifications in healthcare or social care.
Have experience writing and reading care plans.
Have experience managing a team of caregivers/support workers and making rosters for staff.
Be a member or eligible to register with relevant professional bodies, particularly SSSC.
Have a current PVG certificate, or willingness to apply for one.
Have a current moving and handling certificate.
Have a current emergency first aid certificate.
Have flexible availability to work, availability to do night shifts, and availability to work weekends.
Must be a team player with good communication skills.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must be able to follow instructions and perform duties correctly without supervision.
Have your own transport and a full UK driver's license.
Have the right to work in the UK.
The following are the duties and responsibilities of a healthcare support worker, but not limited to:
Giving personal care such as bathing/showering, body washing, combing, creaming, dressing wounds, wearing clothes, wearing pads, and assisting to use the toilet, to service users in their homes.
Caring for people with different disabilities and diseases such as Parkinson's, Dementia, Diabetes, Stroke, Cancer, Paralysis, etc.
Giving daily healthcare support to service users.
Assisting the service users with light house chores and domestic services.
Administering medication to the service users.
Helping the service users in preparing/having their meals.
Following service users to medical or social appointments.
Following and assisting service users with shopping.
Running errands for service users in their homes and outside their homes.
Ensuring the service users live a life that is free from abuse, neglect, danger, and depression.
Use of different Manual Handling Equipment (MHE) such as hoists, armchairs, wheelchairs, handling belts, slide sheets, turning aids, transfer boards and slings for movement and positioning of the service users.
Fixing and emptying of service users' catheter urine bags and the insertion of sheath catheters for male service users.
Keeping track of all service users' calls and ensuring all service users are cared for at their allocated time.
Ensuring total compliance of yourself and co-support workers to care standards and regulations, and safeguarding policy.
Ensuring the well-being and safety of all service users.
Maintain a clean environment in a clean and safe environment for our clients.
Report any changes in clients' health or behaviour to the care team.
Document in their file any changes in their condition or behaviour.
Document in their file any accidents, injuries, or other medical incidents that occur to the client.
