An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join a fast-growing, award winning business, creating, installing and maintaining custom ponds and water features.

DU Waterscapes have become the leading specialists in creating and maintaining bespoke aquatic art, and bringing gardens to life throughout the South West of England. From small back garden fountains to larger natural lakes, we like to get stuck in with a positive mindset, whilst always maintaining our high levels of client satisfaction.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING



This job involves working in a small and fast paced team to create beautiful waterscapes within the allocated time frame that encourages native wildlife as well creating a haven for our clients to enjoy.

This is a varied role that jumps between building and maintaining on a regular basis. You will be working both as a team and solo after your 3 months probation. A desire to expand and increase your knowledge and skillset within the industry is paramount!

1. Pond Building & Water Feature Construction



Assisting in building ponds, streams, waterfalls and water gardens Working with excavators, dumpers and mini loaders (training can be given) Hand digging smaller ponds or detailed groundworks Plumbing and low voltage electrics for our pumps, filters and lighting (training provided) Setting large boulders by hand or with machinery (training provided) Small amount of installing patios and other hardscape elements Shaping, sculpting and finishing naturalistic water features Planting aquatic and marginal plants with an eye for design and ecology Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and competently (some training given) Keeping a clean, tidy and safe site in line with our accredited APL standards Proactively planning ahead and problem solving
This work is physical, creative and technical--every build is different.

2. Pond & Water Feature Maintenance



We have a busy maintenance round that runs throughout the year for our regular VIP clients. Within your first 3 months you will learn to complete solo maintenance visits, including:

Filter cleans and equipment checks Troubleshooting pumps and small plumbing repairs Aquatic and marginal plant work General water garden care Clear communication with clients Deep cleaning sludgy ponds and cutting back plants Managing your own time

3. Yard & Site Responsibilities



Keeping tools organised and in good condition Maintaining the Aqua Eden display ponds and gardens Loading, unloading and preparing machinery or materials Ensuring safe, tidy and efficient working areas

WHO ARE WE?



You will be joining a small, friendly team in an ambitious and expanding company and we would love for you to bring your own passion, skills and experience to help us grow.

The role is based from our yard outside of Ilminster or Aqua Eden, our Design Studio.

Projects tend to be within an hour and a half's radius of the yard, with 2-4 distance projects requiring time away per year. We also attend networking events in London and USA. A full, clean driving licence is required for driving the company vehicle.

We are endorsed by the Association of Professional Landscapers which gives both our staff and clients peace of mind from their stringent checks into welfare, safety and working conditions.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT



We will invest heavily in training the right person. You will have access to:

Specialist pond-building training Online ecosystem pond modules Machinery operation training, in house with potential for ticketed qualification Aquatic horticulture training Ongoing technical mentoring Opportunities for national and international projects and trips in USA.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS



Passion in nature, the outdoors, and plant/wildlife environments Willingness to learn, training will be provided. Full clean UK driving licence with reliable transport Good physical health and fitness Able to lift and move heavy materials safely Must not be afraid to get stuck in and mucky in all weather Positive attitude, good communication and pride in your work Experience in manual labour or practical outdoor roles A keen attention to detail and a flair for design.

DESIRABLE



Excavator, dumper or loader operation, tickets are wonderful but not essential Horticulture or aquatics background Stonework or naturalistic landscaping Plumbing or simple electrics Technical or problem-solving roles

HOURS AND WORKING PATTERN



40 hours per week, Monday-Friday Normal hours 8am-6pm (variable with project schedule) Occasional weekends, events or show days Occasional travel for larger or special projects
