About the role



We have an exciting opportunity to join the Kavi Institute for Nanoscience Discovery (KINsD) in the Department of Chemistry as a Postdoctoral Fellow supervised by Professor Dame Carol Robinson for a period up to 16 months.

The Kavli Oxford is implementing a Kavli Foundation-funded project, 'Embedding Ethics into the Everyday Life of Discovery Scientists'. The project is led by Professor Dame Carol Robinson, Dr Lee's Professor of Chemistry and Founding Director of Kavli Oxford. You will work in close collaboration with the project team, a senior Research fellow and Kavli's Organisational Development Lead.

You will be responsible for contributions to a major new programme of research investigating ethical questions and public views concerning research using post-mortem brains.

The project involves the development of resources around engaging interdisciplinary research skills, public engagement, and practicing interdisciplinarity

This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract until 28 February 2027, with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available. Part time applications may be considered at a minimum of 0.8 FTE.

About the department and the institute



As a staff member in the Department of Chemistry within the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences (MPLS) Division, you will be working in Kavli Oxford as an interdisciplinary institute where research spans both medical sciences and MPLS disciplines.

About you



Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biophysics or a relevant subject area, prior to taking up the appointment. The research requires experience in interdisciplinary research.

You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry located at Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery, Parks Road, OX1 3QU and is available as soon as possible, at latest 1 September 2025

.
