What you will be doing:
We seek an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join Dr Jonathan Denniss' lab. The ideal candidate will have skills and experience in image processing, ability to drive forward research using their own initiative, and a track record of high-quality research outputs.
This 12-month, full-time position represents an exciting opportunity to conduct research funded by the Medical Research Council to develop en face optical coherence tomography (OCT) for the accurate detection of early retinal damage in glaucoma.
The postholder will work with 3-D OCT images of the retina from volunteers with glaucoma and healthy controls. They will:
Combine existing plans with their own knowledge and initiative to develop new/improved approaches to image processing for improved visualisation and quantification of defects caused by glaucoma.
Lead studies assessing the performance of candidate approaches.
Contribute to the development of an evidence-based technique for clinical translation.
Disseminate research via publications and conference presentations.
Key Qualifications/ experience:
PhD in a relevant field, e.g. medical image processing/analysis, computer vision.
First degree in a numerate discipline (e.g. computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering, data science). Candidates with an alternative background (e.g. clinically qualified) may be considered if skills in image processing or similar can be demonstrated.
Relevant research experience and demonstrable experience and skills in image processing or a closely related tasks relevant to the project.
Experience of statistics and research data analysis
