The Department wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in a project combining cutting edge experimental and mathematical modelling techniques to investigate the mechanism by which psychogenic stress impacts on the control of reproductive function in mammals. This BBSRC funded post is available from 14 August 2025 to 14 February 2026 (for 6 months). The successful applicant will develop and analyse data-informed biophysical models of the hypothalamic neuronal networks controlling reproduction in mammals.

The post holder will work on:

biophysical model development; parameter inference; experimental data processing and analysis; developing the amygdala neuronal circuit and coupling this to the hypothalamic neuronal network model we have developed recently; setting-up and managing code and performing analysis.

About you



The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in applied mathematics, physics, computational neuroscience, or engineering. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.
