Company Overview

We are a medium-sized mixed family farm spanning 160 hectares. Our operation includes one poultry site, a beef cattle rearing unit and the remainder being arable spread across several sites.

Summary

We are looking for a flexible, reliable, and hardworking individual to join our team in the free range egg laying unit. Weekend availability is essential, as the role includes working 6 days on and 3 days off, but with 3 of those days being flexible working days, once in every 18 days. Start time is 6am. 8 hour shifts.

Successful candidate to start mid-September for two week handover/training period prior to current worker retiring.

Key Responsibilities

assist with the daily running of the free range egg laying unit, ensuring compliance with British Egg, DEFRA and RSPCA Standards. able to work independently as well as part of a team. egg collection (including floor eggs) and grading eggs. egg packing using machinery and computer controlled robot. visual checks of birds regularly throughout the day. cleaning and maintaining poultry sheds and packing areas. maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to animal care and farm operations using basic maths skills. carry out general site maintenance at the poultry unit, including grass cutting, weeding, cleaning and repair work. cleaning, maintenance, and repair work at beginning and end of flock cycle (every 70 weeks). unloading birds at start of new flock cycle. any other tasks commensurate with the role or other relevant or delegated duties as required.

a proactive and reliable team member with the ability to work in a timely fashion. someone willing and available to work at weekends. farm experience is a bonus but not essential. Training will be provided. practical, hands-on skills and a strong work ethic. enthusiastic and positive attitude towards work with a willingness to learn. have attention to detail and pride in their work. excellent timekeeping and attendance. must have the legal right to work in the UK.
Reliable transport is required due to location.
