Powder Coating Spray Line Manager

About the Role

Lead, train and develop a skilled team of operators to deliver consistent, high-quality powder-coated finishes. Oversee all aspects of the coating line -- pre-treatment, spraying, oven curing, inspection and packaging. Monitor output and quality, quickly identifying and correcting any coating defects or process deviations. Manage production KPIs including OEE, efficiency, utilisation, down-time, re-work and NCRs. Drive continuous improvement to increase efficiency, reduce waste and optimise production flow. Coordinate with maintenance and engineering to ensure the plant remains in reliable, efficient working order. Conduct and record daily team meetings, training, and toolbox talks, building a positive, safety-first culture. Control and report on powder, chemical and consumable stock levels. Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental regulations, including COSHH. Report production and quality metrics to management and the Board, contributing ideas and actions for ongoing improvement.

What You'll Need

3+ years' hands-on experience in powder coating and finishing operations (ideally with team leadership or supervisory experience). Deep technical understanding of coating processes, curing cycles, and defect troubleshooting. Competence in quality control and testing -- film thickness, adhesion, cure verification and visual inspection. Solid mechanical awareness and the discipline needed to maintain a spray line in efficient working order. Ability to read engineering drawings and apply confident maths and measurement skills. Excellent communication and coaching skills -- able to motivate and develop others. A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Desirable

Experience working within ISO 9001 / 14001 environments.

Knowledge of Lean manufacturing or 5S principles.

Familiarity with automated or multi-stage powder-coating systems.
