Dynex Semiconductor Ltd has over 60 years' experience designing and manufacturing high-power, high-reliability semiconductor products for global markets. Our portfolio spans IGBT, bipolar, power assembly and electric vehicle system technologies. As an independent manufacturer, we continue to invest heavily in innovation, capability and people.
This is an exciting time to join Dynex as we deliver a growing portfolio of advanced power electronics projects. Successful candidates will be based at our
R&D Centre in Lincoln
, contributing to power module development from concept through to production.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a
Power Module Design Engineer
to join our multidisciplinary R&D team. This role is primarily focused on
power module and packaging design
, supporting the development of high-performance power modules using
wide band gap (WBG) semiconductors
such as SiC and GaN.
You will play a key role in shaping innovative module architectures, with strong exposure to 3D CAD design, simulation and system-level integration. For the right candidate, there is scope to take on
technical leadership or project ownership
responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Design power modules and power systems incorporating WBG devices to meet performance and compliance requirements
Develop 3D conceptual and detailed packaging designs, with emphasis on multilayer PCB stack-ups, high power density and low parasitics
Produce 2D and 3D CAD designs using Solid Edge (or similar tools)
Apply finite element modelling tools (ANSYS Mechanical, Q3D, Fluent, IcePak) to assess electrical, thermal and mechanical performance
Contribute to circuit and system-level design, including commutation and gate loop inductance minimisation, current sharing and EMI reduction
Support system architecture design, including capacitor integration, thermal management, coolant flow, gate drive placement and busbar design
Generate schematics, engineering drawings and technical documentation
Support prototype build activities and early-stage manufacturing
Design in line with Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles from concept stage
Lead or contribute to R&D projects from concept through to delivery
About You
You will be an engineer with experience in power electronics or power module design, ideally within an R&D or advanced engineering environment. You will be comfortable working collaboratively, taking ownership of technical decisions and communicating clearly across disciplines.
You will ideally have:
A degree (or higher) in mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering,
or
equivalent industrial experience
Industrial experience in power module or power inverter design and layout
Strong experience using 2D and 3D CAD tools for electronics or power electronics products
Experience with finite element modelling tools (ANSYS Mechanical, Fluent, IcePak and/or Q3D)
Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer (advantageous)
Exposure to wide band gap semiconductor technologies (SiC and/or GaN)
Why Join Dynex?
Work on cutting-edge power electronics technologies with real-world impact
