BB Accounting Solutions Ltd is a growing, client-focused accountancy practice based in Glasgow. We support ambitious SMEs, property investors and growing companies with compliance, advisory, and tax planning.
We are hiring an experienced on-site Practice Accountant to take full ownership of client delivery and day-to-day operations, ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and with minimal supervision. This role is ideal for someone who can "run the engine" while the Director focuses on business development and growth.
The Role
You will take ownership of a portfolio and deliver end-to-end compliance and advisory support -- moving work from trial balance ? final accounts ? filed returns efficiently and accurately.
You will also support the team, improve workflows, and ensure clients are looked after professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and finalise year-end/statutory accounts (Ltd, sole traders, partnerships) under UK GAAP (FRS 102/105)
Produce management accounts, cashflow reporting, and KPI packs where needed
Prepare and e-file CT600 (iXBRL), VAT (MTD) and Self Assessment (SA100)
Daily use of Xero, Xero HQ and Xero Tax for:
reconciliations, year-end workpapers, reviews and submissions
managing workflows, tasks, deadlines and client communications
Manage client queries and statutory deadlines (HMRC / Companies House)
Review work prepared by junior staff, provide support and raise quality standards
Identify compliant tax efficiencies (e.g. AIA/capital allowances, loss reliefs, director pay/dividend planning, basic R&D awareness)
Improve internal systems and processes to help the practice scale
Provide cover for bookkeeping duties when required, including preparing accounts from scratch from source records (bank statements, invoices and receipts) to ensure deadlines are met
Undertake any additional responsibilities assigned by management, in line with the needs of the business
Must-HavesQualifications (one of):
ACCA (preferred) / ACA (ICAEW) / ICAS - fully qualified; OR
AAT Level 4 with strong UK practice experience and proven end-to-end Xero Tax filing ability
Experience
3+ years in a UK accountancy practice (not industry)
Able to take over an existing portfolio quickly and work autonomously
Strong UK GAAP, VAT and SME tax knowledge
Excellent communication and time management
Comfortable managing deadlines and client expectations
On-site in Glasgow only + right to work in the UK
