We are seeking to recruit a motivated GP Practice Manager to join our team in Killowen Medical Centre. With a practice list of 6300, our practice team comprises of 4 GP Partners, reception staff, treatment room nurses and multidisciplinary team (pharmacist, social worker, mental health worker, physiotherapist and district nursing). We are looking for someone who can help to lead our team, working together to provide the best care we can for our patients.
Main Responsibilities
Leading the Practice team
Human resource management and Health and Safety provision
Management of practice finances and liaising with practice accountant
Delegation and empowerment of staff
Organising practice meetings with administration staff and clinical staff
Staff performance management and annual reviews
Delivery of continued staff development and educational opportunities
Implementing changes in service provision within rapidly changing landscape of General Practice
Liaise with GP sub deanery for Queen's University and University of Ulster, NIMDTA, HSCB and GP federation teams
Organising GP locums
Day to day running of practice
Represent the practice at meetings and seminars
Essential skills
Leadership skills and some knowledge of performance management of staff
Customer service and complaint resolution
Experience of dealing with the public/patients
Organised management style
Excellent communication (oral and written)
Delegation and empowerment of staff
Independent & logical problem solving
Negotiating and managing conflict with an attitude of problem solving and fairness

Essential Criteria
Management, Leadership and Financial experience
Experience of dealing with the public/patients
Experience of working with regulatory bodies and preparing for inspections
Appropriate IT skills
Desirable Experience
Primary Care/General Practice experience
Educated to degree level
Healthcare management qualification
Certificate in Practice Management
Experience of working in health care setting
Experience using coaching and mentoring techniques to develop and support staff
Employment law, health & safety experience
Knowledge and use of quality management and project management techniques
