About the role

Practice Manager Children in Care - Separated Children's and No Recourse to Public Funds Team



Duration - 12 Months (

Fixed Term or Secondment)




The Children in Care Service are looking to recruit a Practice Manager on secondment. The successful applicant will be required to support the Team Manager on day-to-day operational issues and may on occasions be required to deputise in their absence.


What will you be doing?

This is a large and busy team that works with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (under 18) and with families who have no recourse to public funds. In this role you will support, advise and guide social workers as well as family support workers. This will involve line management of the team, regular case and personal supervisions to enhance performance and case management. Additionally, you will be required to carry out annual appraisals.


This is a very fast paced and busy role that strives to deliver positive outcomes for our children and families in collaboration with our colleagues in the Leaving Care Service and our external partners


About you

The applicant must hold a recognised Social Work qualification (degree/diploma) and be registered with Social Work England.


You will have a strong background in the provision of Children in Care, along with the motivation and drive for self-development together with the ability to develop others'.

You will need:



Previous management experience - desirable Knowledge and experience of immigration processes - essential Social Work England Registration with 18 months minimum post qualification experience Previous experience within Children in Care Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to use word and excel to produce reports, carry out correspondence and keep accurate records. Excellent organisational ability.


This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Barred List check
