Job Description

Treatment Room Duties



Management of Treatment Room, Stock control, Care of equipment Emergency drugs and medicine cupboard, Taking Pathology samples eg Bloods, swabs, urine, sputum and FOBs etc Administer injections and immunisations as directed by a GP or according to PGD directives Wound management, suture and removal Leg ulcer management. Other Procedures, ear syringing, ECG, Nebulisation 24hr Blood Pressure and ECG Recordings. Patient education and health Promotion advise. Aid/Chaparone GP and assist in clinical procedures requested Liaise with GPs and refer to other Health Professionals, District Nurses, Community Diabetic and Respiratory Teams etc Call/Recall for Amber Drug and Coagulation Monitoring.

Immunisation Programmes



Fridge and Vaccine Management, Maintenance of Cold Storage Chain Participate in Childhood Immunisations in Baby Clinic. Participate in Seasonal Flu/Covid Vaccination Campaign Adult Immunisations Travel Vaccination and advice. Ordering and maintenance of adequate vaccine supplies.

Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Management



Participate in Health promotion in line with Practice and Regional targets. Provide a service for patients with Chronic Disease Conditions as per Quality Outcome Framework (QOF). Asthma, COPD and Diabetes Patient education, follow-up and referral to other healthcare professionals for further management. Provide Cervical Cytology service and education of Breast care awareness Provide weight management and smoking cessation service/advise Manage caseload and ensure accurate record keeping.
The Practice nurse will be responsible for providing information which will promote health and enable patients to adopt healthy lifestyles.

Administrative and Professional Responsibilities



To comply with the UKCC Code of Practice and Professional conduct. Ensure up to date Registration and maintain a record of on-going Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for Revalidation. Attend courses and study days deemed useful or necessary for professional development. Participate in annual Job performance and Personal development review. Ensure patient confidentiality and Data protection according to General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Participate in practice meetings as required. Ensure accurate notes of all patient consultations in clinical computer system. Carry out Audit and make necessary changes to procedure and protocol as required.

Health and Safety /Infection Control



The Nurse should be up to date with the requirements for maintaining a safe working environment according to Health and Safety at Work Legislation. Ie

Sharps Instruments in Healthcare Regulations Cleaning Guidance for Care Environments (PHA) Recommendations from PHA re Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Maintain clean working environment Ensure appropriate cleaning and sterilization of Treatment Room Wear appropriate Protective equipment in order to prevent cross infection.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 23.00-25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 18 per week
