About Us



Lakeside Medical Practice is an outstanding-rated GP surgery in Thamesmead, serving over 19,000 patients. We're a high-achieving QOF practice with a supportive clinical team of 5 GP partners, 5 nurses, 3 HCAs, and a friendly, hardworking admin team. We're looking for an

experienced Practice Nurse

to complement our existing workforce and provide excellent patient care.

Typical working pattern:

Working hours and days are negotiable, however a minimum of 30 hours/week s desirable.

Essential Experience



Cervical cytology (smears) Childhood and adult immunisations Travel vaccinations and travel health advice Wound care and dressings Injections and phlebotomy, childhood vaccs and imms Sexual health and contraception Contraception Chronic disease management (especially Asthma & Diabetes)

Key Responsibilities



Clinical Practice:



Deliver health promotion, long-term condition management, and treatment plans for patients with chronic illnesses such as

asthma and diabetes

Run immunisation clinics (baby and adult), travel health services, cervical screening, and wound care Support family planning, contraception advice, and sexual health consultations Participate in minor surgery sessions and emergency care support when required Process pathology tests, interpret results, and advise patients Implement and maintain infection control policies and audits

Communication & Teamwork:



Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, carers, and the wider team Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure high standards of care Use EMIS and SNOMED coding effectively to maintain accurate patient records

Governance & Learning:



Adhere to NMC code of conduct and clinical governance standards Participate in audits, learning events, complaints review, and team development Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and professional learning

Requirements



NMC Registration (required) Minimum 3 years' nursing experience (primary care preferred) UK Driving Licence (required) Confidence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team EMIS Web experience desirable (training can be provided)
