Job overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our team, working closely with clinicians to provide high-quality patient care. This role involves administering vaccinations, conducting cervical screening, wound care, and supporting patients with lifestyle advice and chronic disease management. You will play a key part in maintaining infection control standards, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring accurate patient record-keeping.

Main duties of the job
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Work collaboratively with clinicians to deliver high-quality patient care, ensuring adherence to protocols and best practices.
Support compliance with prescribed treatments while providing lifestyle advice and emotional support to patients and their families.
Administer injections to adults and children, ensuring proper vaccine storage, handling, and disposal.
Carry out cervical screening, ECGs, blood tests, wound care, and specimen collection, including venepuncture, swabs, and urine cultures.
Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to clinical documentation and audits.
Mentor healthcare assistants and junior staff, supporting their development and training.
Lead or assist with infection prevention and control, ensuring best practices are followed.
Monitor and manage medical stock, equipment, and treatment room supplies, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
Contribute to the review and implementation of clinical policies and procedures to improve service delivery.
Support the practice in achieving Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets and participating in local quality improvement initiatives.
Assist in organising and administering treatments during vaccination campaigns, such as flu clinics.
