Our Energy Business Unit are delivering the backbone of tomorrow's energy grid. We're strengthening our engineering capability to deliver major overhead line (OHL) and transmission projects across the UK. We're now seeking a Senior Engineering Manager (OHL) to lead engineering delivery across high-voltage transmission schemes from concept to completion.


The Role:





We are seeking an experienced

Pre-Contract Lead

to provide leadership and coordination across our pre-contract function in Scotland, supporting bids, early contractor involvement (ECI) projects, and allocated schemes. In this pivotal role, you will oversee multiple bids, manage resources effectively across locations, and ensure alignment with business needs and strategic objectives. You'll lead the internal gate approval process through all stages, motivate high-performing teams, and drive the production of compelling, innovative proposals that reflect win themes and business strategy. The role also involves creating resource plans and bid budgets, as well as identifying and managing project risks and opportunities to support successful outcomes.


The Candidate:




Engineering or technical background, ideally within the energy, electrical, or civil sectors - or with relevant transferable experience Proven ability to work collaboratively within teams, managing a wide range of subject matter experts Strong understanding of both major and minor civil engineering projects, including specialist trades Experience as a bid leader or in another technical leadership role Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field Track record of managing significant bids or technical submissions to secure profitable work Demonstrates an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving and project delivery

About our Energy business unit





We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.



Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair and refurbishment services.
