Our Preschool is looking for a Deputy Manager part time, 2.5- 3.5 days per week, Term time only to support the Manager in the running of the Preschool. The hours include 4 hours admin from home and cover of the Managers admin day from home. The role may require some extra cover on additional days if ratios require.
We are open Monday - Friday, 9-3 term time only. The hours at the preschool would be 08:00/08:30-15:30.
The Deputy Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the overall management of the nursery, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 2 - 5 years old, working closely with the Manager. This position involves overseeing daily operations, leading staff, and engaging with parents to promote a positive experience for all.
Our setting is a well established and resourced Preschool, with a large outdoor space, access to a grassy paddock for Forest school sessions and weekly PE sessions in the church hall close by. We have a small friendly team of staff who know the setting and children well.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in early childhood education and demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
Assist the Nursery Manager in the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring compliance with all regulations and standards. Having overall responsibility in the Managers absence.
Opening and closing the Preschool.
Supervise and support staff, fostering a collaborative team environment that encourages professional development.
Engage with children to create an enriching learning atmosphere that promotes their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding their children's progress and any concerns that may arise.
Manage resources efficiently, including materials and equipment necessary for childcare activities.
Drive initiatives that enhance the quality of care and education provided within the nursery setting.
Maintain accurate records related to children's attendance, health, and development in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Level 3 diploma in Childcare and Education (Higher or equivalent qualifications would also be considered.)
DSL training
Paediatric first aid
Experience
Previous experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is essential.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Background in early childhood education is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to engage with children, parents, and staff effectively.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to drive positive change within the nursery environment.
