We are looking for a new preschool leader for our lovely mixed age, voluntary run, term time only rural preschool. We are an inclusive, freeflow early years setting with direct access to a lovely garden area and a happy, tight knit staff team. Our preschool has been in operation for over 50 years and is a much loved part of the local community.
We are looking for a new setting leader who will fit well into our small team and our child focused ethos. We need someone with great interpersonal skills. We want someone who is passionate about early years education and about working with young children. We offer a great working environment, with a strong focus on staff wellbeing and very high ratios of staff to children.
You will be responsible for running the setting day to day, managing and working with staff to plan for and support children's learning, working with our SENCO to oversee support for children who have SEND, regularly updating policies, acting as safeguarding lead (DSL), liaising with families, liaising with our accountant to ensure the sustainable running of the setting and reporting to the committee once a term.
We may be able to consider training someone who wants to progress their career and would like to move on from a deputy manager or similar role, if they are a great fit for our setting. Many of the usual administrative aspects of the role are done by a paid admin/finance person, so that you can focus on creating the best possible experience for the children who come to our setting. The start date for this post is flexible, but ideally January 2026.
Our preschool is open from 9.15am-2.45pm (10.15am start on forest club day) 5 days a week during term times only. Staff are also paid to work an additional 30 mins before and after preschool opening times each day, to set up/pack away, etc. The salary includes 5 hours admin time for the preschool leader's role, with paid overtime available if required. The annual salary is paid monthly, but you are only required to work in term times, i.e. 38 weeks. We allocate 5 CPD days per year included within the 38 weeks, when staff can plan for children's learning and next steps together.
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
