Job Purpose
To provide targeted, inclusive support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they are able to access learning opportunities, develop independence, and thrive within the pre-school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support children with identified SEN on a one-to-one or small-group basis, following individual support plans (IEPs/EHCPs where applicable).
Work closely with the SENCo, key persons, and room staff to implement strategies and interventions.
Promote inclusion and positive behaviour, supporting children's social, emotional, and communication development.
Observe, record, and contribute to assessments of children's progress.
Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.
Support children with personal care where required, following safeguarding and dignity procedures.
Communicate effectively with parents/carers and professionals as directed.
Maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality policies at all times.
Essential Skills & Qualities
Experience working with children with SEN (desirable).
A caring, patient, and inclusive approach.
Ability to follow guidance and work as part of a team.
Good communication and observation skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing.
Qualifications
Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification desirable (or willingness to work towards).
SEN training or experience advantageous.
