This is an extraordinary time to be part of Heathrow. As we continue to grow and shape the future of aviation, our Communications team plays a critical role in telling our story to the world. We're looking for a Press Officer (Consumer & Filming) who can help us land a steady drumbeat of positive news and features across national and consumer media - building trust, pride and love for Heathrow.
You'll be protecting and enhancing our reputation through compelling communications and working on exciting PR and filming projects that only the UK's hub airport can offer. From major PR campaigns to high-profile film shoots, you'll be at the heart of stories that reach millions of consumers. As the Government pushes to expand Heathrow with a third runway there's never been a more interesting time for an ambitious and proactive PR professional to join the team.
No two days will be the same in this role. One day you'll be brainstorming ideas for our next consumer PR campaign, the next managing a large-scale TV shoot in the terminal, and the next providing press office support during a fast-moving crisis. You'll need creativity, confidence and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while building strong relationships with stakeholders and the media.
If you're ready to take your career to the next level, and be part of a close-knit, driven team, taking on work that you can have real pride in and feel passionate about, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:

  • Proactively developing opportunities for national and consumer media coverage to build trust, pride and love for Heathrow

  • Identifying new opportunities for media coverage with airport stakeholders and partners, including airlines and F&B retailers
  • Prepare briefing materials for spokespeople and managing media interviews
  • Collaborate with Heathrow's Marketing, Operational and Social Media teams to align and execute activity
  • Supporting commercial filming projects at the airport; from arranging filming permits for Heathrow partners, to project managing large-scale film or TV shoots at the airport
  • Play a key role in Heathrow's crisis communications response team, including on-call press officer duties. As such, the successful candidate must have the temperament and judgement to be able to hold a line under pressure and maintain their professionalism in difficult circumstances. They must also be able to advise managers on how on-going media coverage is affecting Heathrow's corporate reputation.
Qualifications:
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Creativity, proactivity and a sense for a good 'news' story
  • Strong work ethic, with drive and determination to improve performance
  • Ability to Identify and deliver improvements to processes within function
