About us
At Atelier 21, we are more than a school--we are a movement to reimagine education. Catering to learners aged 4-16, we combine mainstream rigour with radical pedagogy, operating both as a school and as a research centre that impacts educators globally. Our mission is simple yet ambitious: make school relevant, meaningful, and joyful for every learner.
Rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we believe children are inherently competent, curious, and capable of shaping their own learning. We honour the '100 Languages of Expression' -- in art, dance, design, drama, construction, storytelling and more -- as authentic modes for learners to explore and articulate their understanding.
Atelier 21 offers the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) from age 11, ensuring our learners develop deep skills, critical thinking, and the dispositions needed to contribute and thrive in a rapidly changing world--not just to pass exams.
About the role
The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will provide tailored support to two specific learners in Key Stage 2 (Year 5) and work closely with the class teacher to ensure access to high-quality, inclusive, and adapted learning opportunities. This role requires a strong specialism in supporting learners with dyslexia, including the effective use of assistive technology and strategies that promote self-regulation and learner autonomy. The LSA will play a key role in helping learners understand and confidently use the tools and resources available to them both in class and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Support Learning:
Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised support for learners, particularly in literacy and numeracy, in alignment with EHCP targets.
Provide scaffolding and inclusive learning strategies that empower learners with dyslexia to access the curriculum confidently.
Embed assistive technology (e.g., text-to-speech, speech-to-text, dyslexia-friendly software) into daily classroom practice, ensuring learners are trained and supported in using these tools independently.
Promote metacognitive strategies and executive functioning skills to help learners plan, monitor, and evaluate their learning.
Assist with Interventions:
Design and deliver one-to-one or small group interventions focused on dyslexia support, including multi-sensory approaches to maths, reading, spelling, and writing.
Implement strategies that support sensory processing and emotional regulation, helping learners develop awareness and control over their learning environment and behaviours.
Track and record learner progress, sharing insights regularly with the SENCO and class teacher to inform planning and adapt support.
Classroom Support:
Prepare and adapt learning materials that align with learners' individual needs and assistive technology tools.
Encourage learners to take ownership of their learning by helping them identify which tools and strategies work best for them.
Support group work and foster positive learning behaviours that build confidence and independence.
