Job Description

Based in London Borough of Merton Merton School Sport Partnership are looking to appoint enthusiastic sports coaches to work during the school day to provide high quality, fun and engaging Physical Education, physical activity and sport sessions for primary aged children, and to support our school sport competitions and festivals across the Merton Borough.

We are looking for two to three people, available for 3 - 5 days per week at a range of locations in Merton. The positions are suitable for either the self-employed people or as casual contracts (PAYE). As well as providing coaching for lessons and extra-curricular clubs, the roles will also include supporting the delivery of our school sports events in a range of sports and activities including football, tag rugby, basketball, swimming, disability sport, multi skills and Young Sport Leaders. At Merton SSP we value everyone who works with us and offer a comprehensive support system to ensure coaches are able to progress and access mentoring and training whilst working on our behalf. Our aim is for all of our Merton students to enjoy and thrive in the PE, Sport and PA they take part in during their time at school.

We want them to experience active, engaging lessons and activities which include all children at all times and to develop their confidence, understanding and social skills as well as their physical ability. Applicants should have a minimum of a Level 2 UKCC award in at least one sport (or QTS) with good experience of delivering to primary age children and ideally some experience of coaching in schools. An enhanced DBS, professional references, work history, right to work and proof of Self Employed (IR35) status checks will be made. The safeguarding and protection of children is paramount in our work and Child Protection Training will be need to be completed in advance of work commencing.
