, to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Primary Teacher for a full-time maternity cover position.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a single form entry school with small class sizes of approximately 25 pupils, strong pastoral values, excellent teaching resources, and a highly supportive leadership team. The successful candidate will be teaching Year 5 and Year 6, supported by a Teaching Assistant for English lessons, and will play a key role in delivering high-quality English, Art and Humanities teaching, with a strong emphasis on phonics, reading and writing development. There is a real possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will be expected to:
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons in line with the National Curriculum
Teach English, Art and Humanities, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and pupil progress (Teaching maths is not a requirement but may be in the future)
Implement effective phonics, reading and writing strategies to raise attainment
Assess, record and report on pupil progress using formative and summative assessment methods
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners
Work collaboratively with the Teaching Assistant to maximise pupil outcomes
Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, learning and personal development
Contribute to staff meetings, training and professional development activities
Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
Support the school's Islamic ethos, values and expectations
Safeguard the welfare of all pupils in line with school policy Person Specification Essential Proven experience teaching in a primary school setting (Key Stage 2)
Strong classroom management and organisation skills
Confident delivery of English with strong knowledge of phonics, reading and writing Passion for raising attainment and supporting pupil progress
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding
Desirable
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Leadership or subject responsibility experience
A degree or strong academic background in English
Experience teaching in faith-based or culturally diverse school settings
