Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks
a) Planning, Teaching and Class Management
Demonstrate high expectations of what pupils can achieve

Identify clear teaching objectives and specify how they will be taught and assessed
Ensure high levels of engagement in the curriculum and rich and relevant curriculum provision
Use a variety of teaching strategies including first-hand experience and opportunities for learning outside the classroom
Build on prior attainment and provide support and challenge in classroom tasks
Make effective use of assessment information and ensure coverage of programmes of study
Identify and provide for pupils with a range of diverse needs
Support pupils to develop positive attitudes to learning and build resilience and perseverance
Support pupils with positive behaviours - creating an ethos of high expectations of behaviour
Guide pupils to behave well and support the school's core value of Respect
Evaluate own teaching critically to improve effectiveness
Ensure the effective and efficient deployment of classroom support
Fulfil the requirements of Appraisal and Continued Professional Development.
b) Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting
Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved
Provide effective feedback and marking strategies so that pupils know how to improve
Assess and record pupils' progress systematically, monitor strengths and weaknesses, inform planning and recognise the level at which the pupil is achieving
Administer statutory assessment of pupils
Prepare and present accurate and informative reports to parents
Report to Governors as required
c) Other Professional Requirements
To achieve high standards of personal conduct
Work closely with other teachers to ensure a shared understanding of high quality teaching and learning
Have a sound knowledge of teachers' professional duties and legal liabilities
Operate within the stated policies and practices of the school
Develop subject knowledge to enable effective teaching
Establish effective working relationships and set a good example through their presentation and personal and professional conduct
Endeavour to give every child the opportunity to reach their potential and meet high expectations
Contribute to the review, development and management of the curriculum
Take part in community, marketing and liaison activities
Engagement in the wider life of the school through events and extra-curricular activities
Take responsibility for own professional development
Develop effective liaison and relationships with the school's stakeholders
