A welcoming specialist primary school in Leeds is seeking experienced and passionate Primary SEND Teaching Assistants to join its dedicated team this September.
This is a brilliant opportunity for individuals with hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs--whether in schools, SEN provisions, care, or therapy settings--to take the next step in their career. Both full-time and part-time applications are encouraged.
The Role
As a Primary SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll work with pupils aged 4-11 with a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, and global developmental delay.
Your role will include:
Delivering 1:1 and small-group support in a nurturing classroom
Using visual supports, sensory strategies, and structured routines to engage pupils
Supporting children's emotional regulation and modelling positive behaviour strategies
Helping adapt learning activities to match each child's developmental stage
Promoting independence, communication, and self-esteem
Contributing to a calm, consistent, and supportive learning environment
What We're Looking For
This role is ideal for candidates with meaningful experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals. Backgrounds in education, care, youth services, or therapy are all valued.

Proven experience supporting children with SEND

Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, term-time only

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
