Primary SEND Teaching Assistant


Support, guide and inspire pupils with additional needs in a nurturing primary classroom

A specialist school in Leeds is seeking kind, committed and proactive individuals to join their primary team this September. This role is ideal for anyone with experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals, whether in education, care, health, or social services. Full-time and part-time options available.

The Role


As a Primary SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll support pupils aged 4-11 with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning differences. You'll work closely with the class teacher and therapy team to help pupils settle, learn and thrive.

Each day will bring new challenges and moments of joy as you:

Provide 1:1 or small group support in lessons Use visual aids, sensory play and structured routines to engage pupils Support emotional regulation and model positive behaviour Help adapt classroom activities to suit individual learning needs Encourage independence, communication and confidence Contribute to a consistent, safe and nurturing learning environment

Who You'll Be

The School


This specialist setting in Leeds supports children with a variety of communication and learning needs. The primary provision is welcoming and well-resourced, with small class sizes, calming sensory areas and a creative, child-led approach. Staff collaborate closely to ensure every pupil is supported in a way that's tailored to them.

Hours and Start Date



Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm Term-time only - no evenings or weekends Full-time or part-time hours available Start date: September 2025

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.

Pay: 95.00-105.00 per day
