The Vacancy
Ian Farmer Associates are looking for a Principal Engineering Geologist to join their team in Coventry. This is a full time, permanent position.
Ian Farmer Associates, a member of RSK Group Ltd, is a geotechnical and geo-environmental site investigation company with offices covering the majority of the United Kingdom. It is further supported by a fully accredited UKAS laboratory and together with the Geosciences division of RSK, the company makes RSK Group one of the UK's largest site investigation service providers.
Responsibilities:

• Project Management of ground investigations;
• Provide support to regional manager as required
• Supervision and mentoring of Senior Engineers, En gineers and Graduate Engineers;
• Overseeing the logging of soil and rock to BS5930 / Eurocode 7, including QC of logs for issue to Clients;
• Preparation and approval of H&S documentation;
• Preparation of geotechnical and geoenvironmental laboratory schedules;
• Preparation of Factual Reports, GIR Interpretative Reports and PIR Desk Studies;
• Liaising with both clients and subcontractors in relation to ongoing projects.
• Assist the Regional Manager with the commercial aspects of work, including estimating;

Qualifications/Experience:

• Strong experience in the ground investigation industry;
• Good experience of soil and rock logging;
• Good report writing experience;
• At least a geology / earth sciences / civils degree;
• Commercially and contractually aware;
• Good communication skills;
• A full UK driving licence;
• Willing to work on site on occasion;
• Be within a reasonable travelling distance of your office base or be prepared to re-locate.

The company's materials technology and construction engineering service operates throughout the United Kingdom, undertaking and reporting on structural and condition surveys, BREEAM assessments and asbestos surveys. Its experience includes working on buildings, multistorey car parks, bridges, roads and other structures, such as sludge digesters to determine the effects of ageing, corrosion and degradation on structural stability. The company is approved for working in confined spaces and undertaking in situ testing that includes floor load tests and strain measurements.
