As we continue on our journey to become the best Council for our residents, the Financial Management Division plays a crucial role in enabling the Council to deliver on its goals whilst also ensuring that public funds are used efficiently and effectively.

The Role:

The Principal Financial Accountant role is part of the Financial Reporting and Controls Team that produces the Council\xe2\x80\x99s statement of accounts. This temporary role will support the team in closing the accounts with a focus on balance sheet management. Technical proficiency is crucial as you will prepare the balance sheet and a number of notes in the accounts relating to other areas of accounting. You will ensure good quality working papers are available for external audit and respond to audit queries.

About You:

You are a CCAB qualified accountant with considerable experience in closing accounts in a local authority setting. You possess the technical expertise to evaluate accounting treatment, especially with regards to the balance sheet, and understand the recent developments that affect local government accounting. You will have excellent spoken and written communication skills and the ability to establish strong and effective working relationships with colleagues at Kensington and Chelsea and external contacts.
