DESCRIPTION

At Amazon Web Services (AWS) we are leading the cloud revolution. As a Principal, Infra Tech Bus Dev for Research, Global Education, you are a recognised leader in the field of research, and have a deep technical understanding of AWS services and the positive impact of AWS\'s infrastructure on the global education and research segment. In this role, you will significantly impact the broad acquisition of AWS infrastructure services by identifying, positioning, and compelling the development of technically-capable cloud-native digital solutions and you will proficiently position research-based solutions to drive infrastructure acquisition through local and regional stakeholders to accelerate customer adoption.

Key job responsibilities
You will be a voice of AWS\'s global customers in research, with a keen understanding of the research market, strong customer feedback mechanisms, and an ability to broadly influence AWS\'s global research strategy. In this highly visible global role, you will influence teams across geographies within commercial and public sector stakeholder teams to ensure that internal teams work together effectively and efficiently to leverage common global assets and deliver effectively for research customers.

This role requires the close collaboration with research stakeholders across AWS\'s infrastructure, service, solutions architect, marketing, professional services, and field teams to drive adoption within higher education institutions, research labs, and researchers around the world. You will bring a deep technical understanding of the research domain to define the most relevant solutions and requisite quantitative measures for performance.

The Principal, Infra Tech Bus Dev will work with global customers, field teams, and senior leaders to develop new ideas for complex solutions and sales programs based on global feedback. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial technology environment with multiple teams across more than 40 countries. Typically, cross-functional collaboration includes sales, business development, product development, solutions architecture, marketing, partners, finance, legal, and professional services.

As a research expert, you are able to navigate through available funding mechanisms, lead technical negotiations, commercial agreements, and business development frameworks for supporting technical infrastructure delivery through global research institutions.

  • Lead the drafting and communication of AWS\'s global research strategy
  • Build business cases for solutions and programs with international applicability
  • Establish a platform for adoption via effective knowledge sharing across the international education team and through a variety of channels
  • Engage and influence sector leaders around the globe
  • Must be comfortable communicating as a global thought leader and public spokesperson for AWS in Research via customer engagement, World Economic Forum, and to analyst organizations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable experience in strategy, business development, and/or product management roles in research and/or infrastructure and cloud technology
  • Proven experience in customer-facing digital innovation or equivalent consultative-selling role
  • Go-to-market experience working with new product/service development teams
  • Experienced and confident working with senior stakeholders and executive teams
  • Demonstrated understanding of public and hybrid cloud platforms \xe2\x80\xa2Demonstrated experience with training and enablement
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of projects
  • Data driven
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Adept at simplifying complexity
  • High ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Ability to work well with a variety of organizations, management levels, cultures, and personalities

  • Experience communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Good working knowledge of AWS services
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Relevant master\'s or doctorate degree
  • Research practitioner experience a significant plus
