We have a truly compelling career opportunity for a privacy lawyer to join the Company\xe2\x80\x99s Privacy Centre of Excellence (COE) in a EU & UK role. The position provides great flexibility and visibility across the business for a driven candidate. We are looking for a forward-thinking and collaborative lawyer to join our small but mature team. As Privacy Counsel, you\xe2\x80\x99ll report to our Head of Privacy and DPO, EU & UK and can help lead impactful privacy initiatives at a global Fortune 200 stalwart.

We will rely on you to:
  • Provide day-to-day advice and guidance for data protection queries and escalations across all business areas.
  • Act as the primary support for the businesses on data protection matters, working closely with legal and compliance colleagues.
  • Be responsible for providing data protection advice and helping to manage data subject rights requests.
  • Negotiate data protection terms in third party contracts and handle escalation from the Legal team, including with respect to matters relating to international data transfers.
  • Serve as an Incident Response Leader on business data incidents, including by providing legal advice and supporting the notification and communication of personal data breaches, both internal and external.
  • Review, manage and conduct privacy risk assessments and data protection impact assessments, as necessary.
  • Help support the deployment and management of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s privacy programme, including creation of regular reporting.
  • Help with delivery of training and educational elements.
  • Assist with privacy-related complaints, audits, and investigations.
What you need to have:
  • Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working in a corporate environment or law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU data protection legislation and an understanding of the broader data law environment.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, with a focus on data protection terms and security terms.
  • Experience in managing the end-to-end process of data subject rights requests, particularly access requests.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work within a matrix environment, managing relationships with different business stakeholders and to problem-solve effectively across multiple geographies.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written).
  • Strong project management, planning and organisation.
  • Experience interacting with regulators and/or law enforcement authorities on issues relating to data protection and privacy
  • Good understanding of information technology systems and their security requirements
What makes you stand out:
  • Strong working knowledge of European languages (especially French, Spanish or German).
  • Proven experience working within a global matrix structured organisation.
