We are recruiting a
Process Engineering Manager
to join our production team in Hebburn! The successful candidate will be responsible for leading process innovation and optimisation within our construction equipment production operations.

Responsibilities:
Translate business and production goals into process engineering strategies.
Align engineering initiatives with operational and commercial strategies.
Support capital planning for equipment, layout changes, and upgrades.
Oversee automation, tooling, and digital tech to improve flexibility and scalability.
Lead development and improvement of assembly and test processes.
Implement lean principles (5S, Kaizen, VSM, SMED) to reduce waste and cycle times.
Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
Use data and analytics to enable continuous, data-driven improvement.
Standardise and document processes for consistency and efficiency.
Lead complex capital projects, managing scope, timing, resources, and budgets.
Own budgets for assigned projects and initiatives.
Coordinate cross-functional teams for new process implementations.
Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability of NPIs and custom builds.
Ensure compliance with regulations, safety policies, and environmental standards.
Promote a safety-first culture and best practices.
Maintain IOSH standards across the department.
Work with other departments for seamless process integration.
Partner with suppliers and vendors to implement advanced manufacturing solutions.
Build and lead a team of engineers and technicians focused on innovation.
Set expectations, conduct reviews, and support training and development.
Promote accountability, problem-solving, and proactive communication.
Foster a high-performance culture of safety, lean, and operational excellence.
Manage departmental budgets including capex and opex.
Lead forecasting and cost tracking for major projects.
Perform ROI evaluations and cost-benefit analyses for process changes.
Report on project progress, costs, and engineering KPIs to leadership.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Essential
Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Full UK Driving Licence.
7+ years of experience in process engineering, ideally within heavy equipment or industrial machinery manufacturing.
Solid understanding of statistical data development and interpretation. Demonstrable experience in data driven decision making.
Strong understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems used in manufacturing equipment.
Proven track record of implementing lean tools (5S, Kaizen, VSM, SMED) in a complex assembly environment.
Proven experience managing capital projects with full financial accountability.
Safety training: PUWER, Risk Assessments, IOSH (or equivalent).
Proficiency in CAD tools, ERP systems, and manufacturing analytics tools.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally and managing technical teams.
Preferred
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
Familiarity with financial reporting and ERP-based budgeting tools.
Experience with product lifecycle management and NPI processes.
