Hours:
Monday to Friday - hours can be flexible during core office hours of 8am-5pm, with a minimum of 24 and maximum of 38 hours per week.
Salary:
25,500 per annum, pro-rated for part-time hours
Specialising in the B2B Sauces and Seasonings sector, and driven by continued growth, we are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Product Development Kitchen Assistant & Samples Technician to join our dynamic product development team. Reporting to the UK Head of Product Development, this dual-role position will operate within our development kitchen, assisting with sample preparation, basic testing, kitchen and lab hygiene, stock control, and contribute to the professional hosting of customers and internal guests.
You'll play a vital role in supporting the launch of new products, contributing to customer sample preparation and helping maintain an efficient, well-organised development kitchen environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Kitchen Assistant Duties:
Support the product development team in preparing product samples.
Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to formulation specifications.
Assist with cooking, processing, or assembling products under guidance.
Maintain a clean and organized development kitchen, following food safety and hygiene protocols.
Ensure accurate labelling and storage of ingredients and finished samples.
Monitor stock levels of kitchen consumables and ingredients; assist with shopping, ordering and replenishment
Calibrate and maintain kitchen/lab equipment as required.
Samples Technician Duties:
Prepare and pack customer samples in line with specifications and deadlines.
Log and track all sample requests using internal systems or Excel databases.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., product development, sales and logistics) to ensure timely sample dispatch.
Perform basic sample quality checks (appearance, texture, weight, pH, etc.).
Follow safe handling and storage procedures for raw materials and finished products.

Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
Basic food handling or laboratory experience (either in industry or academic settings).
Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and general IT systems.
Understanding of hygiene, health & safety, and sample handling procedures
Desirable:
Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
Experience in a development kitchen would be advantageous but not necessary
