The Product Owner is responsible for the ownership and delivery of product initiatives and platform improvements. You will ensure that the end-to-end service provided by the product is maintainable, extensible, meets customer needs, supports revenue growth, and aligns with strategic objectives.
Working within a dynamic, cross-functional team, you will define, design, develop, and maintain the product, collaborating with senior business members and third-party suppliers to ensure successful product development and enduring service reliability.
This role demands expertise in managing complex IT changes, removing delivery barriers, and fostering a productive team environment. You will mentor team members, promote continuous improvement, and apply agile and lean methodologies to deliver value in line with the product and transformation vision. Additionally, you will collaborate with business stakeholders to build and communicate realistic roadmaps, ensuring the team understands and shares the product vision.
Principal Responsibilities
Product Ownership:
Plan, manage, and engage in the full delivery cycle of initiatives to ensure products meet customer needs and communicated objectives. Demonstrate excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Strategize and present ideas to stakeholders, define product features, and manage prioritization to maximize value from partners and delivery teams. Create and manage backlog items, working with stakeholders and engineers to deliver best-in-class solutions.
Strategy and Vision:
Ensure the product aligns with the organization's strategic goals and long-term objectives. Utilize architectural expertise to develop a strategic roadmap, envision the product's future state, and identify opportunities for innovation.
Agile and Lean Delivery:
Accountable for delivering change and new products using agile and lean principles through a cross-functional team. Oversee delivery practices and the quality of team outputs, providing quality estimates and forecasts at different stages of the delivery lifecycle. Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure roadmaps are grounded and understood by the team.
Line Management:
Accountable for the line management of a cross-functional team, including contract staff as needed. Clearly define oversight and mentoring to provide direct reports and their teams with the right environment for success.
Continuous Improvement:
Ensure the team engages in continuous learning and that lessons are incorporated into the team's working practices to enhance performance continually.
Tools and Environments:
Identify and provision the necessary tools and environments needed to allow the team to perform at a high standard.
Management Information:
Provide regular management information to monitor team performance against agreed targets and budgets.
Stakeholder Management:
Effectively manage stakeholders at various levels, building strong working relationships with business stakeholders and partners. Focus on managing third-parties and suppliers.
Service and Support
Ensure people, processes, products, technology, and partners or suppliers are integrated with sufficient monitoring, knowledge base, and processes to maximize availability and enable quick reaction to issues. Ensure 2nd line support and coordinate 3rd line support for all systems within the product's scope.
Risk, Compliance, and Data Security:
Ensure the platform meets regulatory requirements and internal compliance needs. Participate in risk management and information security processes, managing risks related to the product in line with company policies.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Experience as a Delivery Manager and Product Owner within the product's scope, with a strong understanding of the gift card and pre-payment (incl. Park Christmas Savings) market.
Proven track record of delivering successful software product changes.
Proven track record of managing robust service availability within an ITIL framework
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and analytical skills to determine future actions and assess past decisions.
Sufficient technical background to understand and challenge plans, designs, and issues within technical projects.
Ability to balance multiple priorities and manage ambiguity.
Strong relationship-building skills at all levels of the business and with external teams.
Experience influencing stakeholders to deliver quality product development within tight deadlines.
Expert-level knowledge of relevant systems or similar domains.
People leadership experience, including mentoring cross-functional teams.
Desirable:
Experience creating an environment that encourages continuous learning and high performance.
Experience delivering within an IBMi platform environment.
Experience with agile delivery methodologies and transitioning from traditional waterfall approaches.
Experience managing geographically distributed and remote teams.
Experience creating and managing product backlogs to ensure delivery aligns with business strategy, priority, timelines, and budget.
