They recently established a small manufacturing facility and deliver products daily to their customers around the UK, which range from DIY chains and supermarkets to factories and building sites.

Purpose of the Role
To lead, motivate, and work directly with production and warehouse teams to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time manufacture and despatch of orders. This is a hands-on supervisory role where most of your time will be spent on the shop floor and in the warehouse, driving productivity and maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production and Warehouse Operations
Oversee daily production schedules and ensure orders are completed in full and on time.
Manage warehouse operations, including receipt of materials, inventory control and despatch of goods.
Allocate resources effectively to minimise downtime and maintain workflow.
Quality and Compliance
Carry out in-process checks and ensure ladders meet specifications before release.
Reduce defects and rework through preventive measures and staff training.
Enforce health and safety, systems and housekeeping standards.
Team Leadership
Lead by example, setting the pace on the shop floor.
Allocate tasks, monitor performance and provide clear feedback.
Coach and develop staff to build skills and resilience across the team.
Improvement and Organisation
Maintain a well-ordered, clean and efficient workplace.
Identify and promote ways to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Use systems to manage production, stock and reporting.
Reporting and Communication
Produce accurate daily and weekly reports for management.
Communicate priorities clearly to the team.
Liaise with other departments to resolve issues quickly.
Success Measures
Production line efficiency at 95% or above.
On-time despatch rate of 99% or above.
Defect or rework rate at 0.5% or below.
Zero lost-time accidents.
Consistently well-organised and efficient workplace.
Person Specification
Essential Experience and Skills
At least three years in a supervisory role in production or warehouse operations.
Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems for planning and reporting.
Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise in a busy SME environment.
Knowledge of health and safety procedures and compliance standards.
Clear and confident communicator and effective problem solver.
Straightforward, dependable and able to gain respect without micromanaging.
Demonstrated ability to coach and develop staff.
Qualifications
Forklift licence.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Experience in manufacturing.
Awareness of process improvement and workplace efficiency methods.
Recognised training in workplace organisation or continuous improvement.
