Continuous Improvement / Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer - Steel Based Products
My client is an award winning established manufacturer of steel fabricated products. Their customers love the quality and longevity of their products which are sold around the UK and the world.
Due to growth, my client requires a
continuous improvement / production / manufacturing engineer
to work within its mechanical engineering factory. The company specialises in sheet steel products and has CNC cutting, welding and painting facilities and is the market leader in its field.
The Role
The engineer will be the interface between the design and production departments and provide engineering support to allow efficiencies to be obtained from the design and manufacturing. It is a hands on role and would suit someone from an apprentice factory environment or someone who has an understanding of
continuous improvement
and can drive and document change. The company want a hands-on person who can extract value and work in a harmonious way with production cell team leaders and other stakeholders.
The role will extend to
planning and installation of new factory equipment
including new CNC equipment. The person will be given autonomy and support.
They will use LEAN manufacturing methods & tools to achieve savings through improvement to design and production cell layout. They will lead new processes and practices.
Ensure sound engineering principles and practices are followed
Optimise the production of products and continually identify new areas for improvement and cost reduction
Be the interface between production and design engineering
Collect and verify BOMs and routings
Use of continuous improvement techniques such as 5Y, 8D, fish bone etc
Streamline manufacturing methods and systems using value stream mapping etc
