Production Manager (Foam/Upholstery/Chair Assembly)
Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on individual to manage a single shift covering the Upholstery, Chair Assembly, and Foam shop departments. This is a key operational role focused on coordinating workflow, upholding quality standards, and ensuring timely delivery of production targets. This role benefits from having experienced section supervisors reporting to you, providing strong operational support and enabling effective leadership across all departments.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily operations across various departments - Upholstery areas, Chair Assembly, Finishing, and Foam shop sections.
Liaise with despatch department and ensure all production tasks are completed on schedule and meet required quality standards.
Provide direct line management for all employees within these departments, including conducting performance reviews, monitoring attendance, supporting training, and overseeing day-to-day tasks.
Lead and guide section supervisors to maintain smooth operations and team alignment.
Respond to BOM enquiries from shop floor personnel, manage routing information upon request from ERP Engineering Support Administrators, and provide accurate timing data for job costing to support the Managing and Finance Directors.
Update WIP work to lists based on verbal or written updates from relevant departments
Monitor and control stock levels for materials held in Upholstery, Assembly, and Foamshop areas.
Collaborate with Planning, Purchasing, and Quality departments to resolve issues and enhance workflow efficiency.
Coordinate with Design to drive product development activities.
Identify and implement process/working practices improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
Maintain high standards of health & safety and foster a positive working environment.
Requirements
Proven experience in furniture manufacturing, upholstery, foam/wood processing, or finishing, ideally in a supervisory or managerial role.
Proactive, hands-on approach with a strong focus on results.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams effectively.
Understanding of production processes, BOM, ERP, and quality control
