to lead our manufacturing operations during a critical phase of business transformation. As a small but ambitious self-adhesive label manufacturer, we are transitioning from legacy systems and informal processes to a more structured, efficient, and scalable production environment. This role will be central in driving that change -- from standardising procedures and training staff, to modernising workflows and improving overall productivity.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise
production teams to meet manufacturing targets
Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to optimise workflow and reduce downtime
Monitor production quality and troubleshoot issues on the shop floor, ensuring customer expectations are consistently met.
Ensure
quality standards
are met in compliance with ISO or customer-specific requirements, and embed understanding of this across production
Drive
continuous improvement
initiatives using lean methodologies to maximise capacity and efficiency, and reduce downtime and wastage
Manage procurement and oversee
inventory of raw materials
to prevent shortages and overstocking
Foster a positive, safety-conscious, and team-oriented working environment
Manage and oversee
preventative maintenance
program to minimize downtime and ensure machines are operating optimally
Develop and roll out structured
training plans
to upskill staff and support a culture of continuous learning and accountability. Mentor, and evaluate team members; support workforce development and morale
Collaborate with sales, customer service, and pre-press departments to align production with client expectations
Support the implementation of new systems (e.g., scheduling tools, stock control methods) to improve visibility and efficiency. Work closely with Operations Manager to implement
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
across all production areas.
Track basic production metrics and take ownership for reporting production KPIs to Directors. Suggest improvements in line with company goals and resources
Qualifications and skills required:
Proven experience (3-5+ years) in a production supervisory or management role, ideally in the label printing sector.
Working knowledge of self-adhesive label printing processes (flexo, digital, screen, or similar).
Comfortable working in a hands-on capacity within a small team.
Demonstrated ability to introduce structure, process, or change within a manufacturing environment.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
Practical knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement (formal training a bonus, but not essential).
Experience in developing or implementing SOPs and staff training materials.
Competent in basic IT tools (e.g., Excel, Word) and familiar with production scheduling or stock control systems.
Confident in using data for reporting purposes
Solid understanding of production planning, quality control, and cost control principles.
Good understanding of ISO and experience of supporting these standards in a manufacturing environment
