The Production Shift Manager plays a key role in leading and developing a shift team to deliver safe, efficient, and effective production operations. This role balances people leadership with process management, ensuring that the team is engaged, motivated, and consistently achieving high performance.

As a Shift Manager, you will set the tone for the shift -- driving a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for people development, operational performance, production flow, and resource management, ensuring individuals and the wider team have the tools, training, and guidance to succeed.
This is a shift-based role, operating on a rotation pattern.

Key Responsibilities



Health & Safety



Champion and embed a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Lead risk assessments, safe systems of work (SSOWs), and proactive safety initiatives. Hold the team accountable for maintaining high safety standards.

Leadership & People Management



Lead, coach, and motivate the shift team to achieve performance targets and foster continuous improvement. Manage people resources, including recruitment, onboarding, training, appraisals, and performance management. Ensure consistent communication and engagement with all team members.

Production & Operations Management



Manage daily production flow, proactively resolving bottlenecks in people, equipment, or processes. Monitor and deliver against shift KPIs (safety, quality, output, waste, efficiency). Ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures at all times. Track and improve team performance, implementing both corrective and preventative actions.

Continuous Improvement



Drive improvements in productivity and efficiency, aligned with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) or Lean principles. Identify opportunities to improve asset performance, efficiency, and reliability. Promote best practices across the team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration



Work closely with Warehouse, Engineering, Safety, and Quality teams to ensure smooth operations and effective communication. Coordinate with Engineering on planned and reactive maintenance, maximising asset uptime. Partner with stakeholders to embed new policies, process changes, and standards.

Qualifications & Experience



Proven experience in a production or manufacturing leadership role, ideally within a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of health & safety requirements and best practice. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams. Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organisational skills. Experience with Lean, WCM, or other continuous improvement methodologies (desirable). Flexibility to work shift rotation patterns.
