The Role

As a

Manufacturing Operative at Clayton Glass, you'll play a key role in producing and processing high-quality glass products. You'll support our production processes, uphold quality standards, and ensure safety procedures are always followed.

Key Responsibilities

Operating Machinery: Run various machines used in cutting, shaping, and processing glass, following operational and safety procedures.*
Glass Handling: Load and unload glass safely onto production lines or machines, ensuring careful handling to prevent damage.*
Quality Control: Inspect finished products for defects such as chips or cracks and report any issues promptly.*
Assembly & Packaging: Assist in assembling glass units (e.g., double glazing) and prepare them for safe transport or further processing.*
Safety & Maintenance: Follow all health and safety regulations and carry out basic equipment checks, reporting any faults.*
Material Handling: Move raw materials to production areas and help manage inventory to keep operations running smoothly.*
Team Support: Work collaboratively to meet production targets, maintain a clean workspace, and support various tasks as needed.*

Essential Criteria

Previous experience in a manufacturing or factory environment.*
Hardworking and reliable.*
A team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.*
Able to follow instructions accurately and work with attention to detail.*
Physically fit with good hand-eye coordination, as the role involves manual handling and standing for long periods.*

Desirable (Non-Essential) Criteria

Experience in the glass industry is desirable but not required, as full training will be provided.*
Flexibility to work night shifts if required.*
Driving licence: Preferred

but not required

FLT (Forklift Truck) licence: Preferred

but not required

Additional Information

Location: Clayton Glass, Blackworth Industrial Estate, Highworth, Swindon, SN6 7NA*
Working Hours / Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, rotating weekly shifts:*
Week 1: 06:00 - 14:00*
Week 2: 14:00 - 22:00*

Hourly Rate:

13.05

Standard Weekly Pay:

489.38 (based on 37.5 hours, paid weekly)

Overtime Rates:

Weekdays:

Time and a half (1.5x hourly rate)

Saturdays:

First 4 hours: Time and a half (1.5x) After 4 hours: Double time (2x)

Sundays:

Double time (2x)
Positions Available: 10+
