WHAT TO EXPECT

This Programme Domain Tech Lead holds overall responsibility for the delivery of all Body/Chassis Engineering elements that relate to programme delivery on the programme the team represents.

THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountability for determining the resource demand together with the Chapters for individual model-year programme.
  • Responsible for ensuring staffing to that model with appropriate headcount and skills - both in Agile and non-Agile environments.
  • Responsible to deliver NURBS strategy across all relevant nameplates in accordance with aligned pre- position. Further responsible to ensure appropriate technology impact is presented to Vehicle organisation if NURBS strategy is challenged.
  • Responsible to ensure that vehicle attributes owned by Body/Chassis Engineering are target-set in accordance with vehicle PALS strategy and are traded accordingly if appropriate.
  • Provide support for Programme Gateway deliverables across all Body/Chassis Engineering commodities.
  • Responsible for providing appropriate technology options to resolve technical and/or cost issues and to support decision-making process within Vehicle Organisation.
  • Responsible for making appropriate technical recommendations to ensure AI/SI/GI requirements are met within constraints of Chapter Bills of Design, Standards and Engineering Specifications.
  • Responsible for demonstrating that should-cost for Body/Chassis Engineering commodities are aligned to target as agreed at , for material cost, vendor/in-house tooling and D&D.
  • Responsible for ensuring programme targets for VB off-tool and PSW are met including aligning with stakeholders the impact of engineering change upon status.
  • Budget and resource model both for Agile and non-Agile Programmes.
  • Technology deployment and adherence to Bill of Design.
  • Integration of engineering solutions into a consistent, coherent vehicle programme.
  • Alignment of Body/Chassis Engineering owned attributes within wider Programme model.
  • Quality and Function for all commodities being released by Body/Chassis Engineering.
  • Key stakeholder management and interaction including regular reporting up to Board level.
  • Issue resolution, both internally and cross-functionally.
  • Programme gateway support with delivery of appropriate KPI\'s.
  • Commodity-plan and Delivery support of all Body/Chassis Engineering commodities from to PSW.
  • Adherence of Body/Chassis engineering and delivery teams to Product Development process, whether in Agile or non-Agile environments.

  • Resource demand for all nameplates and Model-Years across architecture
  • Overall team skills versus requirement matrix for Body Programmes team
  • NURBS (re-use) metric
  • Attribute panel chart R/Y/G status for all Body/Chassis Engineering owned Attributes
  • All Programme Gateway metrics for Body Chassis as defined by PCDS schedule
  • Support delivery of should-cost versus target for material cost, tooling, D&D and engineering
  • Engineering AIMS throughput (non-Agile programmes)/adherence to planned backlog burn-down rate (Agile programmes)
  • Off-Production tool status versus target for VB
  • Phase I PSW at TT versus target

  • Other Product Engineering leaders, especially ACPE

WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential
  • Extensive experience of programme delivery gained at a senior CoC level.
  • Broad technical knowledge across a wide range of Body and Chassis commodities and the ability to talk with some authority about them.
  • Some experience of vehicle-level attributes, how they relate to customer experience and the boundaries within which they can be traded.
  • Knowledge of the entire \'system V\' including how customer requirements are cascaded down the LHS of the V to component level, and then validated up to vehicle level on the RHS.
  • Significant experience of working within the PCDS environment - knowledge of gateway cadence and required deliverables at each event.
  • Broad network within the Body and/or Chassis technical community, plus some network across other functions including Vehicle, Purchase, Manufacturing, Design and Finance.
  • Ability to conceptualise and communicate complex topics to senior stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering and problem-solving tools, and the ability to guide teams in their use.
  • Experience of Plant-based vehicle launch.
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred.
Desirable
  • E xperience of leading cross-functional teams through complex and time-bound issues.
  • Experience of interfacing with Enterprise Leaders and up to Board level.
  • Good network both within Body/Chassis Engineering and cross-functionally.
