Job Description


Overview:
You will take full responsibility for a certain area within Project Management. You will co-ordinate project activities and ensure all project phases are documented appropriately. Compile project status reports, co-ordinate project schedules, manage project meetings, and identify and resolve problems. Responsibilities:

  • Work on projects of moderate scope and some complex assignments
  • Apply standards and methodologies, provide expertise and support on use of methods and tools
  • Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded
  • Identify and assess risks to the success of the project.
  • Agrees the project approach with stakeholders, and prepare realistic plans (including quality, risk and communications plans)
  • Track activities against the project schedule, manage stakeholder involvement as appropriate
  • Build reporting/status updates, agenda stakeholder and owner meetings
  • Assist in the evaluation of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems, and identifying potential benefits and available options for consideration.
  • Maintain project documents, plans and other information in the project repository ensuring easy access and usability by the project team, follows up on tasks where appropriate.
  • Create PowerPoint and Visio documentation for the project team to facilitate understanding of complex project issues as well as to document process flows.
  • Co-ordinate project resource changes, including space, equipment, and update of project documentation (team lists, organisation charts, etc.).
  • Schedules project meetings, co-ordinating attendance and documents meeting notes and activities.
  • Work on projects using available frameworks and tools and establish plans for projects with on-time and on-budget project goals.
  • Support seniors in providing project oversight, tracking risks, assumptions, issues and decisions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience

Desirable:
  • Additional course or certification in Project Management
  • Certified functional consultant in any one specific domain
Skills:
  • Experience in utilities sector is a plus
  • Excellent client-facing skills
  • People management skills - introducing and building ways in which people can learn from each other, encouraging mentoring and the transfer of knowledge by designing and delivering learning interventions
  • Team work and emotional intelligence
  • Good self-management \xe2\x80\x93 continuous performance is both a goal and a mind-set
  • Has an innovative approach \xe2\x80\x93 a bold thinker and doer, matching creativity with vigilance
  • Good problem solving skills, has experience in proposing different options and solutions for approaching and resolving issues

Experience:
  • Experience and knowledge in project management methodologies and has awareness of new and emerging technologies and developments
  • Has good applications/technology knowledge, building on specialist domain knowledge and has practical experience of tools and frameworks required to deliver
  • Basic experience in scheduling and database, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and Visio or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of open source project management tools
  • Good understanding of the project management lifecycle
  • Experience with version control concepts
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Excel and working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word
  • A proven record in analysing data and effectively presenting to clients to support proposed solutions, able to question client hypotheses and solutions with robust data
