About the Project - Thriving Beats Surviving (TBS)


The TBS Project aims to empower elderly Chinese people affected by racial discrimination, isolation, and emotional hardship. We act as the link between the Chinese community and a range of local authority and voluntary sector service providers. Through outreach, engagement, and support services, we help older members of our community build confidence, feel included, and thrive with dignity and purpose.

Key Responsibilities



Work closely with the project team to plan and deliver outreach services and project activities Develop and maintain a database to track participants, volunteers, service outputs, and online resources Evaluate the project's impact and outcomes; prepare regular reports for internal use and funders Actively promote the project via social media, digital channels, and traditional communications to increase community engagement Organise and deliver community activities including befriending, individual advice sessions, and volunteer-led support Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers to support project delivery Build partnerships with local organisations and promote service exchange to improve support for elderly Chinese residents Support committee meetings and user forums to encourage community input and feedback Identify new resources for funding and resources to support the project Undertake any other duties as required by the Supervisor

Person Specification


Essential:

Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) Strong communication skills with the ability to write clear reports and correspondence Proven experience in community work, especially with elderly or ethnic minority groups Good IT literacy and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, social media, and online communication tools Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational skills Experience in planning and evaluating community projects Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends if required
Desirable:

Experience managing volunteers Familiarity with the UK voluntary sector or services for older people
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

Pay: 18,204.00 per year

Expected hours: 21 per week
