Job Overview


We are seeking a experienced and motivated electrical biased Project Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in project management of distribution electrical supplies from LV to 33kv+ including the civils and electrical elements. The Project Manager for PDS oversees contracts and projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, in compliance with NERS and company standards. This role requires effective leadership, resource management, and attention to detail to ensure project success.

Duties



Project Leadership: Manage, inspire and coach those delivering the projects we complete, from Project Assistants and Co-ordinators to Supervisors, Jointers, Civil Engineers and mates, ensuring buy-in and commitment along with a true team and one company ethos. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to NERS standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies, providing a top-quality outcome and safeguarding the well-being of team members, clients and the public. Financial Management: Oversee the project budget and forecasts, managing costs and financial processes, including procurement, invoicing, and ensuring delivery within budget constraints. Liaison with Authorities: Coordinate with Local Authorities for street works, ensuring necessary permits and approvals are secured to prevent project delays Procurement of Materials: Manage project material requirements, ensuring timely delivery and avoiding project interruptions due to lack of resources. Scheduling and Deadlines: Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring all activities are completed on time and addressing any scheduling conflicts. DNO/IDNO Communication: Liaise with DNOs and IDNOs to manage connections, ensuring smooth and timely final energisations. Work Instructions and Compliance: Prepare and issue work instructions, risk assessments, and method statements. Ensure they are understood and followed by staff and contractors. Monitoring and Reporting: Record project progress, including closing measurements and as-laid details, in compliance with DNO/IDNO procedures. Provide regular updates to senior management. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks. Maintain client risk registers and escalate significant risks and implement contingency plans to keep projects on track. Team Collaboration: Work closely with Supervisors to ensure resource deployment is effective. Provide support and share expertise to maintain high team performance. Quality Control: Implement quality control procedures across all project phases, promptly addressing quality issues and fostering continuous improvement. Client and Public Relations: Maintain strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the public, representing the company professionally and courteously. Issue Resolution: Address and resolve customer complaints and project-related issues, ensuring satisfactory outcomes for all involved parties. Environmental Management: Implement the company's Environmental Policy by minimising waste, controlling pollution, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Training and Development: Agree training plans with staff, ensuring they maintain their authorisations and certifications, and that we offer opportunities for further development. Health and Safety Audits: Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with safety protocols, initiating corrective actions where necessary to uphold high safety standards. Incident Investigation: Lead accident or incident investigations, producing detailed reports outlining root causes and preventive actions. Performance Appraisals: Conduct annual reviews for team members, and cascading this down through supervisors and project assistants, providing constructive feedback and setting performance objectives.

Requirements



People management and leading project teams. Highly experienced in the electrical industry. Relevant authorisations and craft skills. Full driving licence. SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely accreditation. NRSWA Supervisor certification. EUSR SHEA Power card.
