PROJECT MANAGER - TECHNIQUEST ON TOUR

Are you a creative and organised project manager with a passion for science communication, outreach, and innovation?

Techniquest, Wales's much-loved science discovery centre, is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the development and launch of an exciting new initiative: Techniquest on Tour - a mobile science experience designed to engage schools and communities across Wales.

This is a rare opportunity to shape and deliver a high-profile, high-impact project from the ground up, working at the intersection of education, design, logistics, and engagement. You'll lead a collaborative effort to create an immersive mobile science environment that brings hands-on, inspiring science experiences to audiences who may not otherwise access them.

What the role involves:

Leading the entire project lifecycle from concept to delivery - including planning, budgeting and risk assessment. Working closely with internal teams (education, marketing, operations) and external stakeholders (schools, community groups, sponsors) to shape a truly inclusive and accessible experience. Sourcing and overseeing the design and build of a mobile unit, including vehicle procurement, fit-out and compliance. Collaborating with designers, scientists and creative partners to develop high-quality, curriculum-linked content and interactive exhibits. Ensuring the project meets health & safety, roadworthiness and educational compliance standards. Developing operational manuals and training resources to support long-term use and sustainability. Acting as the central point of coordination, communication and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
We're looking for someone who:

Has strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects on time and on budget. Is confident working with diverse stakeholders and partners - from educators and creatives to contractors and funders. Brings creative vision, alongside the ability to manage practical logistics, compliance, and technical detail. Has experience or interest in STEM, education, science communication, or exhibition development. Understands (or is willing to learn about) vehicle compliance, mobile unit design, and operational logistics. Is a clear communicator, problem-solver, and team player with excellent organisational skills. Holds a project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP) or has equivalent experience.
