TransPennine Express is supporting the national roll-out of the European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS) signalling solution that will enable the adoption of the Digital Railway. Within this, the introduction of the European Train Control System (ETCS) operation and trains will support the industry in delivering faster, greener and more reliable journeys

Purpose of job role

The role will support across TransPennine Express's ETCS programme in the delivery of ETCS rolling stock upgrade and ETCS training delivery plans to ensure a smooth and safe introduction into our operation.



Working to TransPennine Express's Project Procedures, Rail Industry processes, laws and standards, you will play a key role in managing risks, plans and governance activities. The ETCS programme interfaces with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external. It will be essential that relationships are built and maintained to support collaboration throughout.



The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of rail operations and the skills to deliver through robust project management and excellent communication.

Essential Skills

Core Project Management Rail Operations knowledge Understanding of rail industry processes and standards Strong communication and collaboration

Preferred Skills

Recognised Project Management qualification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, PMP) 5+ years rail operational and relevant project/programme management experience ERTMS/ ETCS knowledge and experience
