Job Description


This new full-time post is available immediately on a fixed term basis until 30th July 2025 (there may be a possibility of an extension) managing the NERC funded \xe2\x80\x9cFuture Fibres Network plus\xe2\x80\x9d project at the University of Exeter.

Main purpose of the job:

To be responsible for the management and co-ordination of a cross-institutional project on embedding environmental sciences and sustainability in the fashion and textiles industry. The project includes external partners from industry and government working across the fashion and textiles industry.

Impact and Partnership Development Managers (IPDMs) are responsible for identifying opportunities for impact and partnership development, bringing together internal teams and building external partnerships to enhance project delivery. They also develop and are responsible for long-term strategic partnerships between the University and regional, national and international stakeholders. They work closely with the University\'s Research Service and Global Advancement teams as part of an integrated Professional Services eco-system.

The FFN+ project team consists of world leading multi-disciplinary researchers focused on microplastic pollution, fashion industry and circular economy challenges from the University of Exeter, University of the Arts London, University of Leeds, University of Huddersfield and University of Plymouth.

As Project Manager for Future Fibres Network+, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of network activities within the project. The Project Manager will act as a key coordinating point for all partners of the multidisciplinary team, the project funders, and external stakeholders. The primary role of the Project Manager will be to facilitate the delivery of project activities and coordinate the administration and delivery of funding against the project milestones. This will involve:

  • establishing and maintaining relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • ensuring effective communications
  • tracking impact
  • writing reports
  • identifying collaborative opportunities and sharing outputs
  • monitoring progress against deliverables and
  • data management
The post-holder will have experience of managing or promoting research projects, including impact, research communication and research development. They will contribute to the strategic development of the project and support the project lead with developing and maintaining new and existing long-term strategic partnerships with regional, national and international stakeholders.

External liaison with partners, including government offices and funders is required in this role and a professional and confidential approach will be required. You should be highly organised and have proven excellent communication, IT, and administrative skills, being able to work independently as well as assisting with developing team working practices and ethos across a distributed team.

Experience of working in a Higher Education or similar industrial environment, and project management skills are essential. The post holder will carry out a varied range of tasks, including budgeting, accounting, producing reports and organising meetings.

The post will require close working with Impact and Partnership Development Managers (IPDMs) within the Environment and Clean Growth Sector team, wider IIB/Research Services and other professional services directorates and key academic colleagues across all the University Departments and Institutes.
