Project Manager (Technology)
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced
Project Manager (Technology)
to take full end-to-end accountability for the delivery of one or more technology-related projects, tailored to their scale and complexity. This is a pivotal role within our organisation, requiring strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a collaborative mindset to drive successful outcomes across diverse project portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
Project Establishment
Define and agree project scope using established tools and techniques
Identify and engage stakeholders; develop stakeholder matrix and communication plan
Support or lead investment cases with robust time, cost, and resource estimates
Assemble and mobilise project teams, including sourcing and onboarding
Produce mobilisation artefacts (e.g., RACI, PID, governance frameworks)
Project Delivery
Lead cross-functional teams to deliver on time, within budget, and to quality standards
Manage projects using agreed methodologies and governance structures
Integrate internal and external supplier deliverables into a cohesive solution
Maintain schedule baseline under strict change control
Operate financial controls and manage risks, issues, dependencies, and assumptions
Drive stakeholder engagement and maintain clear communication channels
Ensure compliance with data and cyber security obligations
Embed business change activities to support project outcomes
Escalate issues appropriately through governance channels
Project Closure
Execute transition plans with BAU teams
Manage controlled closure including financial wrap-up, acceptance criteria, and project reviews
Compliance
Adhere to all relevant Royal Mail policies and procedures
Key Dimensions
Project budgets up to 2 million
Leadership of up to 20 matrix reports, plus supplier resources
About You
You are a confident and inspirational leader with a proven track record in delivering complex change projects. You thrive in matrix environments, demonstrate sound judgement, and bring clarity and calm to challenging situations. You are commercially astute, customer-focused, and highly collaborative.

Demonstrable success in managing technology or change projects
Strong stakeholder and people management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels
Financial and supplier management expertise
High resilience, drive, and problem-solving capability
Technical knowledge to support issue resolution and escalation
Ability to work autonomously and within teams
Innovative, empathetic, and outcome-oriented
